Short Range UAVs & UGVs
While UAVs have taken over above the battlefield, UGVs have found their own niche. When safety precludes sending in a manned presence, the first call is for a robotic explorer. Recent events have seen UGVs deployed as bomb disarmament robots, oil pipeline explorers, and as disaster response in the aftermath of the Fukushima nuclear disaster. As UGVs are sent into tighter and tighter areas, the need for a small, lightweight, reliable video return link continues to grow.
The SPRITE-PRO Two-Way Diversity COFDM Receiver is available in a standalone, set-top version for fixed downlink viewing, or can be integrated into UGV Control Panels for viewing on the control panel display.
The SPRITE-PRO offers HDMI, HD/SD-SDI, and NTSC/PAL video outputs as well as a streaming Ethernet output. A selectable DC bias on the two SMA inputs allows for the use of amplified antennas. Given the confined nature of UGV working environments, transmission range is reduced in comparison to UAVs. Given suitable antennas, no interference, and a good line-of-sight, up to one mile transmission radius can be achieved by a BMS UGV solution.
